Why don’t you go outside and play so mommy can get over this headache?

In New England we only get a few months of really nice weather (nice weather is defined by me as not snowing/cold enough to make me cry, but I won’t really cry because my tears would just freeze on my face).  So when the weather gets warmer there what seems to be a collective desire to get the hell outside before the frigging snow comes back.  And in Boston this desire is usually expressed by hitting the Commons, window shopping in Back Bay, or grabbing a Duck Tour.  Did I get you with the Duck Tour thing?  I was just testing you to make sure that you were paying attention.  Now that we’ve established that you are in fact paying attention we can move on to our list of some outdoor activities that don’t involve just hanging out on a roof deck (though we love roof decks and if you have one and invite us over we will totally show up):

Rock On Concert Cruises:  Get drunk on a boat and listen to some awesome cover bands.  Just don’t fall into the water and please take lots of pictures of your drunken dancing for us to post on our website.  We’ll be laughing with you.  Promise.

Boston Heritage Tours:  I realize that you may have just rolled your eyes at the idea of a walking tour, but its actually pretty sweet.  Hoof it through the North End and the waterfront, brush up on your history, check out the gorgeous scenery.  Good times had by all.

Carson and Constitution  Beaches:  Who the hell knew Boston had beaches?  Well, actually, we did.  But maybe you didn’t and this is new information to you, in which case, you’re welcome.  So get out, get some sun that didn’t come courtesy of a tanning booth or some horrid self tanner that has you convinced that it looks natural (or if you’re like us, slap on 10 pounds of SPF 200 and pray that you don’t freckle).

The River Charles Gondola:  Fucking awesome!  Listen to this, its a gondola ride in Boston!  And though we realize that this sounds totally cheesy and like something only a  tourist would do, we think that if you are truly comfortable with how cool you are and don’t feel the need to prove to everyone around you that you are beyond hip (random aside, if you use the word hip, you can be guaranteed that you are not hip) that you will see that this River Charles Gondola thing is actually a great idea for a date night.  And, SCORE, that let you bring wine and drink.  In a gondola.  In Boston.  Fucking awesome.

Arnold Arboretum:  Sure, everyone knows about the Gardens, but seriously, the Arnold Arboretum is soooo much better.  We can’t really do it justice in a description here, just check out the site.

Boston Ski & Sports Club:  If you’re super outdoorsy and athletic and you are looking for a place to play, here you go.  With everything from co-ed softball games to whitewater rafting trips, this is your go to spot for all things outdoors in Boston.  Also, co-ed softball sounds like a great way to pick up chicks.  Just saying.
